Ellsworth Kelly Artist Book

Ellsworth Kelly: pure form and color, is a 12x12 inch, 48-page book that focuses on the art of Ellsworth Kelly, spanning from the beginning of his career to the end. Kelly was known for his hard-edged color field painting, and the book needed to reflect his sense of abstract minimalism. The 8x8 column grid and the square format of the book helped to create a strong grid that established a system of order and allowed for strategic uses of white space to allow the work to breathe. The gel-filled squares on the cover allude to Kelly’s final work in Austin, a building that contains three large stained-glass installations.

Vatnajökull National Park Website

Vatnajökull National Park is a website design for a national park in Iceland and is divided into one page with six sections. The site was designed using Sketch and built using HTML and CSS. It is coded and is fully responsive at phone, tablet, laptop, and monitor scales. The website design is minimal to reflect a clean, Scandinavian design with large photos to emphasize the beautiful imagery, which is the selling point of the park.

The Fountainhead Cover Redesign

The Fountainhead is a classic novel by Ayn Rand that explores the themes of individualism versus collectivism. The protagonist of the story, Howard Roark, is an “intransigent young architect, who battles against conventional standards and refuses to compromise”. The cover represents this character through a building that towers above everything else, standing alone in the sky and defying convention. The color palette pulls from poster design done in the forties, the era in which the book was written and is set.
