Hi, I’m Julia! I’m a designer from Boston who is passionate about branding, publication, and web design. While stepping out of my comfort zone, I try to enhance people’s lives through design. When I’m not designing, I’m listening to music, running, or drawing.

Icon, Monthly Publication

Icon is a monthly publication package that allows viewers to gain a better understanding of how fashion trends change throughout the years. Each monthly publication highlights an artist or designer who is responsible for a trend that has since made a comeback in society.

Based on that concept, this fun package was created to be a bold, light-hearted, and fun experience for any fashion forward person who loves exploring new artists. In this edition, Stephen Burrow’s work is displayed through color blocking and bold typography. The iconography is clean and modern with a sprinkle of abstractness for a light-hearted experience. The package itself is inspired by a conventional handbag but opens into a “closet” displaying a manicure sewn version of one of Stephen’s designs.

The Hummingbird’s Daughter, Cover Redesign

The Hummingbird’s Daughter highlights a passionate and rebellious young woman who has arisen from death with a power to heal. It will take all her faith to endure the trials that await her and her family now that she has become the Saint of Cabora. The story takes a turn when Huila, the elderly healer who takes Teresita under her wing, knows secrets about her destiny. Because of the religious connotations displayed in the book, the image making for this cover included deconstructing an image of stain glass window as well as a sketch of a hummingbird. With religious themes, the stain glass plays tribute to the devotion of the main character and the power of faith.

Time, Space, and Moving Forms, Artist Catalog

Time, Space, and Moving Forms, Alexander Calder, is a 11x13 inch, 70 paged bound book that shows off the work of Alexander Calder. Alexander Calder was an American sculptor known both for his innovative mobiles that embrace chance in their aesthetic, his static “stabiles”, and his monumental public sculptures. Because of his multidisciplinary background, there was a large selection of artwork to focus on. Three chapters include “New Studies in Wire, True Kinetic Sculpture, and Large Abstracted Stabiles.” The single column and double column structure is paired with artwork from different periods of Calder’s life. This establishes a system that adds harmony between typography and imagery. This copic bound book includes an acrylic front and back cover while encapsulating the movement and style of the artist’s work.
