Ellsworth Kelly Artist Book
Ellsworth Kelly: pure form and color, is a 12x12 inch, 48-page book that focuses on the art of Ellsworth Kelly, spanning from the beginning of his career to the end. Kelly was known for his hard-edged color field painting, and the book needed to reflect his sense of abstract minimalism. The 8x8 column grid and the square format of the book helped to create a strong grid that established a system of order and allowed for strategic uses of white space to allow the work to breathe. The gel-filled squares on the cover allude to Kelly’s final work in Austin, a building that contains three large stained-glass installations.
