Cantu

Hi, I’m Sophia! I’m a graphic designer and visual artist from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. I love storytelling, worldbuilding, and designing my own characters. When I’m not creating, I’m in a movie theater with my best friend or by myself. Film, animation, and surrealism inspire my work.

Lot Lizard

These two complementary posters are for the short film Lot Lizard by Ari Tecktieli. The film follows a young, down-on-his-luck skateboarder traversing through an urban setting. Using my own illustrations, I combined dense detail and sporadic colors to capture the chaotic landscapes and constant motion of the film.

Circa

Circa is a publication that highlights cultural staples of different decades where each issue is dedicated to its own time period. It invites older readers to relish in nostalgia and younger audiences to draw inspiration from the past. With this issue, using my own photography as well as retro modeling photos of my mom, I immerse the audience in the fashion trends and pop culture crazes of the eighties.

Emma

This book design for Jane Austen’s comedy, romance novel Emma, aims to capture the romantic meddling that the mischievous main character gets up to. It also highlights the decorative attire of the book’s high society characters. Using my own photography, both elements are represented through a girl intertwining two flowers that she has paired together with the ribbon of her dress.
