Hey, I’m Eric – a science fiction enthusiast turned graphic designer. I find endless enjoyment in designing for the things I love – whether that be music, illustration, friends, or family. When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me playing guitar, gaming with friends, or enjoying a good podcast.

Book Design: Neuromancer Jacket

William Gibson’s Neuromancer is one of the most influential science fiction novels ever written. It is the inception of the cyberpunk genre and primary influence for countless other pop culture media. This book jacket aims to reflect the story’s theme: a warning of humanity becoming increasingly dependent on technology and losing its connection to reality. This is achieved through a strong emphasis on imagery and typography. A distinct lack of color mirrors the destitute future Gibson describes in his novel.

Senior Capstone: Red Carpet Records

Red Carpet Records is a record label dedicated to signing experimental metal bands. Their goal is to broaden the general understanding of metal as a genre by providing their audience with a diverse catalog of artists. The branding of this label and its contracted bands takes the form of 6 CDs – each designed to reflect the album and band it represents – in a collector’s edition slipcase package. The design incorporates “traditional” visualizations of metal with black & white imagery, accented by a spectrum of color to represent the underlying complexity and diversity of the genre.

Publication Design: Coanada

Coanada is the essential magazine for Formula 1 fans. As an international motorsport that travels the world nine months a year, this monthly publication aims to give readers a behind-the-scenes look into the sport as each season unfolds. The magazine’s angled, shearing graphics visually reflect the fast-paced lifestyle of the sport, both literally and metaphorically. The limited but highlighted use of color mirrors the diversity found in it and the excitement that comes in watching different nationalities compete for victory.
